Health amidst COVID-19

Ralph Waldo Emerson correctly quoted, “Health is wealth”. It seems to be everso prominent in today’s world, where we’ve been struck hard with COVID-19. The need to take care of one’s health has only risen. Maintaining health and healthy habits, in general, seems to be really tricky these days, but it doesn’t have to be so.

First, health promoting activities like exercise are crucial in maintaining health in this pandemic. If you’ve wanted to become fit for a long, there’s never been a better time to start exercising. You can watch YouTube videos to see workout routines, or my favorite, use a workout app. It is extremely important to be engaged in cleanliness activities at your place. You should always maintain clean surrounding because the dirty surrounding is prone to invite various diseases. With more time being spent at home, you don’t need to hurry to make meals in order to reach your office/school on time. So, it is easier and better to no…no…  it is necessary to eat healthily. Eating healthy promotes health directly and indirectly by strengthening your immune system.

Second, One must use social media responsibly and carefully in this time of skyrocketing usage of social media. A lot of misinformation is flying across social media platforms. This is a big problem because people lose their health rather than gaining better health because of it. There was a news of a man dying after consuming lots of Calamus roots because he saw some videos about its benefits on the internet. Different online scams are on the rise too. So, it is really important to double-check your facts and report misinformation online. Being closed up in a space for long periods has proven to be utterly harmful for the mental health of people. To prevent it, we can use social media to watch entertaining stuff and to talk to our loved ones. We can engage in learning activities and upgrading our skills (DAG Learning (dpanalytics.com), Coursera | Build Skills with Online Courses from Top Institutions, edX | Free Online Courses by Harvard, MIT, & more | edX, Online Learning by Skillshare | Start for Free Today, Brilliant | Learn to think, Online Courses – Learn Anything, On Your Schedule | Udemy are a few useful sites). Social media can help people find these amazing learning programs like internships, live classes, training programmes et cetera.  Different learner groups in social media can help one connect to like-minded people and help to upgrade skills as well.

Third, maintaining safety measures when going outside undoubtedly saves one’s life. In this pandemic, we should go out only when necessary and keep meetings to a minimum. When going out, wearing mask is a must. We should sanitize our hands every once in a while. We should always remain socially distant. Remaining socially distant is the best way to avoid contraction of COVID-19. One should go for the vaccine immediately after their turn has come. Even after having required vaccine doses, applying preventive measures is still a must.

In a nutshell, we should adapt to these uncanny duties we are imposed upon and make ourselves comfortable in the new normal.
